September 15 | SK holdings, SK innovation and SK telecom listed in the 'DJSI World Index'

SK holdings, SK innovation and SK telecom were listed in the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Indices) World Index on September 15. SK holdings have been named a DJSI world leading company for eight years in a row; SK innovation for three years in a row; and SK telecom for 12 years in a row. The DJSI is a family of sustainability benchmarks published annually by the US global financial intelligence provider S&P Dow Jones and the sustainable management assessor RobecoSAM of Switzerland based on a comprehensive assessment of not only economic performance but also environmental/social value creation performance of business enterprises, and only the top 10% of the assessed companies are named DJSI world-leading companies. SK affiliates listing in the DJSI World lndex is credited to the recognition of the ‘Double Bottom Line’ management initiative that pursues both economic and social values.

September 15 | SK innovation supplies batteries to Ferrari's first mass-production EV

SK innovation is supplying batteries to the Ferrari first mass-production. On September 15, SK innovation was selected as the battery supplier for ‘SF90 Stradale’, Ferrari’s first production plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) model. Ferrari reportedly assessed many different battery vendors for more than two years before selecting SK innovation in the end. SK innovation now delivers batteries to a super car brand in addition to big name automobile brands such as Daimler Group and Volkswagen Group of Germany and Hyundai Motors Group of Korea.

September 11 | SK telecom accredited with the 'TechXLR8 Asia Award' in 3 categories

SK was accredited with three ‘TechXLR8 Asia Awards’ in the ‘5G Innovation Technology’ the ‘Network Virtualization’ and the ‘AI Application’ categories in the award ceremony held in Singapore on September 11. The TechXLR8 Asia Award is a renowned international event hosted by the global ICT research firm ‘Informa Telecom & Media’ and attended by leading Asian mobile carriers and manufacturers. On that day SK telecom’s industry-leading 5G technology prowess was recognized as its MEC (Mobile Edge Computing) technology, integral to the 5G mobile era, was named an innovative technology. The 5G MEC technology won 4 global awards this year alone, including the ‘5G World Award 2019’, the ‘Light Leading Award’, and the ‘Telecom Asia Award 2019’.

September 11 | SK siltron acquired the silicon carbide wafer business division of DuPont

SK siltron has fully acquired US DuPont’s wafer business division, making a dent in the power semiconductor market dominated by the United States and Japan. In a board meeting held on September 10, SK siltron decided to acquire DuPont’s silicon carbide wafer business division at USD 450 million (approx. 540 billion won). SiC wafer is a power semiconductor wafer used in EVs for which energy efficiency is critical. Dupont’s SiC wafer business is touted for its world-leading product quality and production technology knowhow. SK siltron which is the one and only semiconductor wafer exporter in Korea plans to build a momentum out of this acquisition to maximize synergy with DuPont’s R&D and production capabilities and keep expanding its global business presence with a diversified portfolio.

September 11 | SK bioscience scales up its Asia-bound export of the flu vaccine 'skycellflu'

SK bioscience announced exports of its proprietary cell-cultured flu vaccine ‘skycellflu’ on September 17. The initial batch to be exported just ahead of the beginning of flu vaccination season consists of approximately 250,000 doses. The Asian countries that do not have homegrown flu vaccines such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Mongolia, among others are the first export destinations. Starting with this initial export batch, SK bioscience is expected to participate in the international tendering process of the WHO (World Health Organization) next year. Sky Cell Flu was pre-qualified by the WHO last April for the first time among cell-cultured flu vaccines.
