In the U.S., SK’s presence continues to grow as new facilities open, and strategic investments and partnerships expand. SK companies have operated in the U.S. for the past three decades and today we have more than 6,000 local employees. By the end of 2025, SK’s U.S. headcount is anticipated to reach 20,000 with billions of dollars of new investments in our U.S. businesses from coast-to-coast.

In 2023, SK’s expansion has included substantial progress in U.S. manufacturing – particularly in strengthening domestic EV battery production while building-out the U.S. EV charging infrastructure:

  • In June, SK Signet held a grand opening for its new EV charging plant in Plano, Texas. At full capacity, SK Signet’s first U.S. facility is expected to produce more than 10,000 ultra-fast chargers per year.
  • SK On and Hyundai Motor Group approved plans to invest $5 billion to build an EV battery cell plant in Bartow County, Georgia. This will be SK On’s third EV battery facility in Georgia, including the two SK Battery America sites in Commerce.
  • EverCharge, an SK E&S company, announced in January a partnership with Avis Budget Group to install a significant amount of EV charging stations at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.
  • Atom Power, an investment by SK Inc. and SK Energy, was awarded the North Carolina Job Development Investment Grant, coinciding with the company’s expansion of its headquarters to a second office location in Huntersville, as well as a research and development facility in Raleigh.

As SK’s businesses grow, so do our people. We’re proudly invested in our shared communities – and SK celebrates the local cities and town where we live and work:

  • In New York City, SK sponsored Lincoln Center’s annual Summer for the City event.
  • In Rancho Cordova, California, SK launched a community arts project celebrating local leaders and highlighting the vibrant community where SK pharmteco established its global headquarters.

In 2023 and beyond, SK’s investment strategy will continue to be driven by our global commitment to ESG across clean energy, electric vehicles, life sciences, semiconductors, innovative technology, and more. Together with local partners, SK is building a better future.
