Expansion of Information and Communications Business
The late chairman Chey Jong-hyon has to give up a license for the country’s second mobile carrier to avoid a political controversy, even after beating rival consortiums by a large margin. He later participates in the bidding for the Korea Mobile Telecommunications Service Corp, commencing SK's entrance into the Information and Communications business. He also joins the management of the company beginning in July 1994.
